Life Groups
We hope our worship gatherings really encourage you, make you think, and challenge your assumptions about God and life. However, we believe the real business of learning, growing, and loving happens in the context of friendship. That’s why we encourage everyone to participate in a Life Group.
What’s a Life Group?
A Life Group is a home-based community of about a dozen people who meet weekly to discuss and study the Bible, based on the content of the Sunday sermon. A trained leader facilitates discussion that helps solidify the content, gives a forum to ask questions, and, in the process, builds a community of people who care about one another. By studying, praying, and sharing together, real spiritual transformation occurs.
Where & when do they meet?
Although we're a Church in Broad Ripple, Life Groups meet at various times in homes, not only in Broad Ripple, but also in several northern Indianapolis locations. Most groups are an hour ½ with light refreshments afterwards. Life Groups have Fall, Winter & Spring sessions, and do not meet June through mid-August.
“Yeah, but what if I try one and don’t like it?”
(We’re glad you asked!) Life Groups are only 10-weeks long, and at the end of each session, you can choose to stay in the same group, try a new group or take a break. So, if you’re not completely satisfied, you have an easy way out! Seriously, we understand that small groups have a lot to do with group chemistry and realize that it might take a couple tries (or more) to find a group, and that’s OK.
“But I don’t know a lot about the Bible.”
Our Life Groups are built on discussion of the previous week’s sermon, not on extensive previous knowledge of the Bible. Discussion questions and additional content are distributed before the meeting. In fact, the format is perfect for a group of people with varying levels of spiritual maturity.
“I like the idea of growing with a group, but what’s the commitment?”
Life Groups are a 10-week commitment to attend a weekly meeting to discuss the previous week’s sermon, and require some additional homework. In order for Life Groups to be successful, members must be committed to regular attendance. (Obviously, allowances are made for sickness, vacation, and work conflicts, but not much more.) This firm commitment is the key to forming loving and growing relationships.
