The Dove

What's up with the logo?

Yeah, we know we have a bit of a non-conventional logo for a church.  What do you think of when you see our dove?

stacked_brown-_web"The dove reminds me of peace or tranquility."

"Very organic. Looks like someone could have hand-drawn it on one of the graffiti walls in Broad Ripple."

"I like the water ripples under the dove. There's lots of water around Broad Ripple, and a hundred years ago the  'broad ripples' of the White River made this area and its shallow riverbed a prime place for foot traffic and animals to cross the river."

"At Jesus' baptism, a dove came down from heaven and he heard God telling him how pleased he was."

Perhaps the image we resonate with best is found in Genesis 8. God's purifying judgment was unleashed against the wickedness on earth in the flood.  After all the death and destruction, Noah sent out a dove, and it returned with an olive leaf in its mouth. This poignant picture of God bringing new life amid the destruction of evil is a great image of God's mercy and grace.

As we set out to form a new church, we hope to bring with us the love and mercy of God. We hope that through the ultimate display of mercy, Christ's death on the cross, many come to be eternally satisfied in the amazingly gratifying life of faith.
